Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, can be performed for cosmetic enhancement or as part of reconstructive surgery, such as correcting a congenital chest deformity like tuberous breast deformity or pectus excavatum.
The procedure involves placing implants beneath the breast tissue to increase breast size. The choice of implant type and size is tailored to individual factors, including the desired increase in size, breast anatomy, skin thickness and elasticity, and overall body shape.
Dr. Matthew Cheng takes a personalised and meticulous approach to breast augmentation, focusing on addressing proportions and achieving each patient’s desired aesthetic. With a deep understanding of breast anatomy, implant technology and advanced surgical techniques, he tailors every procedure to complement the individual’s body shape, prioritising aesthetic results with long-lasting satisfaction. He also employs additional procedures such as an internal bra, fat grafting and potential use of surgical meshes to achieve desired outcomes.
The customised dual-plane technique combines subglandular and submuscular implant placement, offering the benefits of both approaches. By partially positioning the implant beneath the chest muscle and partially beneath the breast tissue, this technique provides upper pole fullness while reducing the risk of visible implant edges. It is customised to suit each patient’s anatomy, ensuring optimal shape, volume, and projection. The dual plane can be also customised to lift the nipple without the requirement of a full mastopexy/breast lift.
The internal bra technique is designed to provide additional support to breast implants, prioritising long-term shape and position. Using a supportive mesh or sutures, this method reinforces the breast pocket, reducing implant movement and minimising bottoming out over time.
