Rhinoplasty
Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is a procedure aimed at reshaping or correcting the nose to improve its appearance and/or its function. Often performed alongside rhinoplasty is septoplasty, which addresses nasal passages blocked by a deviated septum, helping to improve airflow.
Nose surgery can be performed for cosmetic enhancement or functional reasons, such as addressing breathing issues. It can change the size, width, and profile of the nose, and also adjust the shape of the nostrils, tip, and overall nasal symmetry.
The objectives of nose surgery include:
Correcting a hump deformity
Adding or reducing nasal tip projection
Rotating the nasal tip so the angle between the nose and lip is at a more pleasing angle
Straightening a deviated nose
Refining the nasal tip's appearance to be less bulbous or boxy
Correcting asymmetry (although perfect symmetry may not always be possible)
Adjusting the size of the nose, either smaller or larger
Restoring height to a flattened area
Changing the size and shape of nasal openings including alar base reduction
Enhancing the nose’s balance in relation to the face
Repairing damage from injury
Repairing damage caused by disease, such as infection or cancer
Improving breathing by opening nasal passages, often in conjunction with septoplasty (surgery on the nasal septum).
